Glorious and free...

"I am Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, or free to choose those who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and for all mankind"...John Diefenbaker, Canadian Bill of Rights, July 1st, 1960

In preparation for the Canada Day activities, we thought we would get an early start in celebrating...the night before.
To start us off we headed out to the Smith's Funhouse
for some marshmallow roasting, fireworks

and just good company. It set the tone for our annual trip to the valley the next day.

One of the things I treasure most are road trips with the family, especially now that everyone is growing up and moving on with their own lives. This Canada Day we decided that we would go strawberry picking since last year's venture to the fields was a memorable one. Of course before we even got started, tempers became frayed, items were lost, then found and then lost again and we had to go back inside a couple of times after the door was locked to

get something or the other. It took a lot of effort to make it out the door, but we did, lol! This year we had our little grandson, Hayden with us
and we had to travel in two vehicles. He wasn't much help with picking but he did try his hand at the wheel, lol! Of course what's a road trip without additional company. We met up with the Drages and the Gallants at the fields. There were so many strawberries that it took very little time to pick 56 boxes between 9 people. That's not counting the amount that was eaten at the fields or thrown at people(that would be Angus's idea of fun). Needless to say there was something for everyone. The grand finale of the day was watching the fireworks with the Nelsons. We live in a land that is "true north, strong and free" , where everyone has the opportunity to enjoy freedoms and liberty...OH CANADA!
