as soon as I can find it. Within this family tree, there are 5 generations of strong women, with my great-grandmother at the head. She lived to be 95 years old while my grandmother lived to be 94. The card was one I made for my mom to go with the gift. My sweet and wonderful husband provided us with a fabuous meal leaving us with plenty of time to just visit. He was right at home in the kitchen whipping up a fabulous turkey dinner. We weren't allowed to lift a finger to help with the meal and he kept shooing us out of the kitchen everytime we entered it, lol. Mom took the hint and settled down to spending some quality time with the kids. It wasn't long before supper was ready and we were sitting down to a yummyturkey dinner with all the trimmings. Needless to say, I was pretty stuffed when all was said and done. I was ready to sette down for an afternoon snooze when who should show up at our door but two of our favorite missionaries, Elder Baker and Elder Cooper. They came over to serenade me with a song about mothers. I was so touched by it all, it was like the icing on the cake to end a beautiful day with family and friends. This was our first time doing a video so excuse the amateur attempt, lol!

“The mother's heart is the child's schoolroom.”
First of all I just want to wish everyone who is a mom, who aspires to be a mom and or those who stands in as a mom for others who don't have a mom, " Happy Mother's Day"! I hope your day was a great one. I wanted to do a quick post about my mom. Just a few good reasons why I love my mother. She and I didn't always see eye to eye growing up but she loved my brother and myself enough to find a good family psychologist to help us see what we needed to do to better our relationship. We didn't have a father-figure around but she more than provided for us so that we didn't miss not having a father. Money wasn't in an abundance, but somehow she always made it possible for both of us to go away to Europe a few times during our school years in order to see something of the world. She never learned how to drive a car but always made it to all the important occasions in our lives...and one of the most important memories of my mom was when she wasn't able to go to the Temple to see me, her only daughter, get married, but she supported me 100% and cried when she saw me in my wedding dress for the first time. My mom accepted my choice in faith whole-heartedly and later accepted my husband as if he was and is her own son. Whatever shortcomings she may have had as a mother, she has perfected while being a grandmother. She loves our children immensely and makes time to listen to all their stories, no matter how long-winded they can be. She calls regularly to see how everyone is doing and is always ready to be read to or show reports cards to. My mom is my mother, my father, my friend and a super grandmother. I have been blessed to have had her as an example and grateful that she was able to forgive me of all the crazy scrapes I used to get into and still do by times. I am still learning what it is to be a mother and hopefully one day I may just get it right but for now, I'm fortunate to have my mother with me.
